Fight For Revenues From Meadow's Casino
People in Meadows Casino in Washington County, Pennsylvania sit happily spinning the reels but their not the only ones that are betting on the Casino. Revenue from the casino is supposed to be split among several communities in the area, but people want to know who is getting what and how much. Thanks to the first round of slots revenue the county is looking to get over $8 million, but of course everyone wants their cut and the requests for money currently are at $90 million. This is alot more then the county has obviously and since their isn't enough to fulfill everyone's requests it has brought on a fight for the money.
The decision as to who gets what is made once a year, Wednesday was the first time that Washington County Commissioners had to make these tough decisions. More then 24 projects made the final cut from water treatment systems to pony league baseball, whose leaders were all asking for some cash.
Everyone got something but many didn't get as much as they had asked for. The Washington Hospital administrators had asked for 64 million but will only get 200,00 for now. The $8 million was only from when the casino opened in June til the end of last year so next year commissioners are hoping to have more cash to spread around
