Ohio Officials to Vote on Gambling Age This Week
The State Lottery Commission of the state of Ohio is set to approve several rules this week including setting a minimum age for players to begin playing the new slot machines that the governor will allow at the states racetracks. The rules currently would allow eighteen year olds to gamble on the slot machines as the laws are drafted but many think the age should be raised to twenty one.A recent newspaper report in Ohio stated that if the state allows eighteen year olds to gamble on the machines the state would join a short list of states that allows players of that age. New York, Oklahoma, Rhode Island and South Dakota all allow eighteen year olds to gamble.
It seems that people are being quite silly over this topic. Many say eighteen year olds do not have the money management skills that would be needed to play the games responsibly. However I see it as if a United States citizen is old enough to give their life for their country then they are old enough to enjoy a game on a slot machine.
