Pennsylvania Slot Revenues Drop
It was recently reported by the state of Pennsylvania that the slot revenues have dropped by twenty three percent last week. Officials believe that because summer is over, fewer players are frequenting the casinos to play the slot machines.

Last week the state reported $27 million in gross terminal revenue on $346 million bets placed. That is substantially lower than the $35 million of gross terminal revenue on $434 million in wagers the week before, and that number included Labor Day. Last week’s totals are the lowest the state has seen since the week of February 10th.

Of all the states seven licensed slot operations, Mount Airy saw the largest drop in gross terminal revenues. Paradise Township casino had the slowest week since February 3rd and GTR fell thirty percent to $2.8 million on $39 million in betting.

Although Mount Airy saw the largest drop in gross terminal revenues they did see a payout rate jump of a half a point to 91.6 which is above the state average of 91.3 percent. The casino’s payout rate is usually high and it dropped below the state average two weeks ago.
This was the first time it had ever dropped below the states rate.

Right behind Mount Airy in decline was Wilkes-Bare racino Mohegan Sun. Gross terminal wagers were reported at $3.4 million on a payout rate of 90.8 percent. Many may speculate that the decline may have to do with gas prices as the result of the recent hurricanes. This may be a factor in the recent decline.
