Joan Ankrom was visiting The Meadows Racetrack & Casino on Wednesday of last week just enjoying the penny slot machines and spending time with her husband. Right before two in the morning Joan began to hear loud noises coming out of her slot machine. She knew she had won but was unsure of how much, boy was she in for a surprise.

Joan had won $133,163 while playing the penny slot machines. It just so happens that the win broke the record for largest jackpot won at the casino. The record was broken by just over $2,000. Joan commented that her husband had to tell her how much she had won and she stated her “heart was pumping like crazy”.

Casino officials came over as soon as Joan won and congratulated her. She had her picture taken and was asked if she would like her winning in cash or check form. She chose a check and had the taxes deducted.

Joan and her husband visit the casino about three times a week and really enjoy as Joan just retired after being a waitress for forty years. Her husband Albert works as a salesman for a Bowser car dealership.

Luck must have been with the couple as Joan usually does not play the penny machines. She usually plays the quarter or half-dollar slots. She was only playing the penny slots because she was waiting on her husband to finish his points he had left to play. I imagine this is one time she did not mind having to wait on her husband.
