Seminole Casino Under FireThere has been a lot of news coming out of Florida on the Seminole Casino and the sate and the latest reports are that the Florida House and Marco Rubio the Speaker have gone to the Supreme Court to sue the sitting governor Charlie Crist over the controversy that he would permit the Seminole Tribe place slots in their casino.
In this suit that has been filed it states this allowance of placing slots in the Seminole casino violates a clause in the Florida Constitution that violates the Legislatures law and policy making authority.
This all stems from November 14th when Crist and the Seminole Tribe signed a compact that allows their casino to move from a Class II bingo type of machines to a Class III that is Las Vegas style of gambling machines including slots machines.
Crist was acting on orders from the Department of the Interior who had given him a November 14th deadline to come to an agreement with the Seminole Tribe or the tribe would have been able to upgrade their ClassII license to a Class III without having to pay taxes on the generated profits they would make from the addition of the different style gambling machines.
